Our historic barn can host up to 150 guests, while our outdoor ceremony site lets you make the most of the surrounding landscape. You also have indoor and outdoor spaces, ready spaces, an outdoor courtyard, and direct river access.
And then there’s one of our favorite details: you can make your wedding ceremony entrance by river. Not exactly your standard walk down the aisle.
Inside, our 4,000-square-foot barn gives you a reception space that still feels connected to the outdoors. We also offer planning services, event rentals and transportation options, and couples have flexibility when selecting wedding vendors.

Estes Park + Rocky Mountain National Park
If your vision involves Rocky Mountain National Park, elk sightings and a busy mountain town with lots of lodging options, Estes Park is understandably high on the list.
You’ll find hotels, cabins, resorts and several established destination wedding venues around town.
One is Black Canyon Inn, which offers wedding spaces, rehearsal dinners and on-site lodging with one-, two- and three-bedroom condos as well as hotel suites. It is also close to downtown Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park.
Estes Park can be a good fit if having lodging close to the ceremony site is one of your biggest priorities. The tradeoff? It is a major tourism destination. Build extra time into transportation, especially during busy summer and fall weekends.
Winter Park + Devil’s Thumb Ranch
The Winter Park area gives you another version of the Rocky Mountain wedding. Think ranches, forests, mountain lodges and winter resort energy.
Devil’s Thumb Ranch is about 75 miles from Denver and offers multiple ceremony and reception locations. Its private High Lonesome Lodge includes 35 guest rooms, a ceremony site, barn reception venue, patio and fire pit.
That makes it a strong example of the lodging-centered destination wedding model: your wedding venue becomes the home base for much of the weekend.
Winter Park also makes sense for couples drawn to winter weddings and ski resorts. Just remember that a winter mountain wedding creates a very different transportation plan than a July wedding. Snow, road closures and driving conditions need to be part of your timeline from day one.
Telluride: Go All In on the Mountain Weekend
Telluride is one of Colorado’s most recognizable mountain locations, and it is definitely a commitment. A Telluride wedding gives your guests a reason to turn the trip into a full vacation.

Buena Vista + Nathrop

Your Weather Backup Plan Is Part of the Venue
Colorado mountain weather has personality. Summer is the most popular season for outdoor weddings, but it can also bring afternoon thunderstorms and cool evenings.
Higher elevations can even see hail or snow when you least expect it. That’s why you should evaluate indoor and outdoor spaces together. When touring mountain wedding venues, ask:
- Where does the ceremony move if it rains?
- When is the weather call made?
- Who makes that call?
- Can the reception remain set while the ceremony moves?
- Is the backup space covered, enclosed, or fully indoors?
- Does moving indoors change your guest capacity?
- Are heaters available?
- What surfaces will guests walk on after rain?
- Can vendors load in during bad weather?
A venue’s Plan B should still feel like a wedding you would happily have.
Prepare for the Altitude
If you live at sea level, Colorado altitude deserves more than a tiny note on your wedding website. Many popular mountain locations sit above 8,000 feet, and some Colorado wedding locations climb above 10,000.
Guests may need time to adjust. Encourage everyone to hydrate, take it slow on their first day, and go easy on alcohol when they arrive.

Your wedding website should also list the venue elevation, expected temperatures, and appropriate clothing. “Mountain wedding” is not enough information for someone packing in Florida.

Your venue does not necessarily need on-site lodging to work for a destination wedding. But your wedding absolutely needs a lodging strategy.

Vendor policies can completely change how a wedding feels and how much control you have over the final cost. Some venues require in-house catering and bar service. Others allow outside vendors.
Snow Mountain Ranch, for example, requires outside catering at some of its wedding spaces while using exclusive in-house catering at others.

What Is the Cheapest Place to Have a Destination Wedding?

A smaller celebration in a mountain town during a less competitive date can cost less than a peak-season resort wedding. Public lands may also have lower ceremony permit fees than traditional wedding venues, but they come with limitations.
You may need permits. Seating, amplified sound, décor, alcohol, guest count and access can be restricted. You may also need a separate reception venue.
If you’re considering a national forest, state park, or other public site, start your permit research early. A low ceremony fee does not automatically mean a lower total wedding cost.
Are There Wedding Venues in Colorado Under $5,000?
There may be venues or ceremony sites with rental fees below $5,000 depending on the year, season, day, and package.
But pricing changes so often that we wouldn’t build your venue list around an old blog post promising a specific number.
Instead, ask venues for their current pricing and exactly what the quoted fee includes.
If your venue allocation is around $5,000, consider:

- Sundays
- Off-season dates
- Smaller guest counts
- Ceremony-only spaces
